About the Artist

Mickie McCormic Artist

Mickie McCormic: I have a background in photography and graphic design, a B.A. in Studio Art from Oberlin, and an M.A. in Pre-Columbian Fabrics from Goddard. In between jobs running art galleries, working in museums, and writing grants, I have worked in high-contrast photography, photo silk screen, and surface design. I live in Southern Oregon. I show work at the Klamath Art Gallery in Klamath Falls and sell my dolls through Gallerie Karon on A Street in Ashland, Oregon. I have been the Oregon representative for the Surface Design Association for several years, and I write a column for the SDA newsletter.

My recent work is with alternative photo processes on fabric, including large-scale inkjet printing, disperse dye printing, and working with Solarplates. I teach image transfer techniques, especially for quilters, and am concentrating on inkjet transfers to vintage cloth.

I also do commissioned art work, based on family photos. These pieces can be framed, or in the form of silk scarves or other wearable art. For information about commissioning a piece, or having me give a workshop in your area, contact me either by email or phone as posted on the top of this page.
